Projects and Business Practices
During the nearly 20 years we've been doing business in the Phoenix market, McGough has enjoyed substantial growth, building noteworthy structures and significant business relationships. These include Class “A” buildings, such as the MAX at Kierland and sizeable expansions of such medical facilities as the Mayo Clinic Hospital. We've completed projects for a variety of premier Arizona companies, including American Express, TCF banks, Banner Health and Qwest, and we're proud of the repeat business that these clients have given us.
Looking ahead, McGough Southwest intends to continue and expand several of our core construction product types, including health care and higher education. These are specialty areas for which we employ our Construction Manager at Risk delivery system, which we have successfully utilized for such customers as the Maricopa Community Colleges. It's here that we demonstrate the unique project approach that McGough has employed to deliver top-quality projects for more than five decades.
At McGough Southwest, it is our mission to provide value to our customers from project inception and design through the entire construction process. The construction experience and expertise of our skilled team at the earliest stage of each construction project leverage the quality of the design process when informed decisions will have optimum quality impacts at minimal project expense.
The benefits of our experience and expertise are evident by the recent LEED Commercial Interiors Silver Certification award for Cotton Center III, McGough Southwest's 9,600-square-foot headquarters offices. Earlier the building received LEED Core & Shell Silver Certification, which is the first double-certified space in Arizona, and one of very few in the U.S.
McGough recently moved into the Cotton Center facility, installing its previously-owned furniture and equipment items instead of purchasing new and disposing of items that had useful remaining life.
Features of the space receiving USGBC credits include:
- Leasing space in a building with prior LEED C&S – Silver Certification
- Bicycle storage and changing facilities for employees using alternative transportation sources
- Optimized energy performance of HVAC systems, lighting systems and equipment
- Use of locally-sourced materials with recycled content
- Use of “low-emitting” materials, such as carpeting, paint, wood products and furnishings to support workplace environment goals
- “Green“ cleaning materials practices that avoid harmful chemical use
