Mayo Foundation Methodist Hospital : Rochester, MN
This project consisted of an exterior bridging expansion and interior renovation of acute patient care areas. The bridging expansion created a new central nurses’ station between two currently separated patient care radial wings. Interior renovation occurred within the radials to support the new nurses’ station. Interior renovation also included complete remodeling of adjacent patient care radials to accommodate expanded bone marrow transplant and immuno-suppressed patient care areas. A component of the project involved installation of patient shower and toilet facilities, patient room renovation, and installation of new mechanical HVAC systems for supply of HEPA filtered air. McGough services included construction management and trade coordination. General construction services included demolition, masonry and rough/finish carpentry. Construction renovations occurred in areas directly adjacent to occupied bone marrow transplant patient care areas. McGough implemented strict infection control procedures to minimize transmission of airborne contaminants to patient care areas. Construction procedures included weekly project coordination meetings with hospital representatives and contractors, 24/7 emergency phone numbers, and implementation of noise attenuation measures to minimize the impact of construction on patients, visitors and staff.
